Meet Your Patient Care Team
Our team of compassionate professionals will help guide you through your journey. Our staff includes two breast cancer survivors who are also former patients of Dr. Fisher. They serve our patients as navigators and care coordinators, having been through breast cancer treatment and breast reconstruction themselves. Dr. Fisher is the only plastic surgeon in Austin, TX with breast cancer survivors on her team. Our staff also includes a skilled nurse practitioner with 12 years of patient care experience, as well as a full-time insurance specialist knowledgeable in all insurance types. As a team we strive to provide high-quality, compassionate care to every patient.
Crystal, Nurse Practitioner
Crystal is an acute care nurse practitioner with 12 years of experience in critical care whose career has included working with pre- and post-operative patients doing wound care, medical management, and perioperative counseling. She is excited to use those skills to care for women and breast cancer survivors. Crystal got her first master’s degree in family practice at University of Texas. She then got a post-master’s certificate in acute care from Texas Tech University. She has been an Austin resident since 1994. Her family includes her husband, Steve, and daughters Mila, age 8 and Lyra, age 5.
When she isn’t caring for patients, Crystal enjoys hula hooping, reading science fiction, and playing with her daughters.
Brandie, Surgery Coordinator
Brandie is responsible for scheduling surgical procedures for patients, acting as the liaison between patients and Dr. Fisher. She is also the office’s resident insurance coordinator and is well-versed in working with all insurance types. She works closely with our patients to ensure that their surgical needs are met in a timely, efficient, and caring manner. Brandie has worked in the healthcare field for 9 years, and has over 5 years of experience scheduling surgeries for patients. She has a thorough understanding of how best to coordinate surgeries both within the hospital setting as well as from the provider’s office. Her ability to multi-task and work well under pressure makes her an invaluable asset to our team.
Brandie moved to Austin in 2013 after graduating with a B.A. in Holistic Health from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. On the weekends, Brandie enjoys sampling tacos, playing soccer, and going on nature walks with her dog, Benny.
Claire, Director of Communications & Patient Care Coordinator
A native of Santa Barbara, California who moved to Austin in 2010, Claire is a breast cancer survivor and former patient of Dr. Fisher’s. She has personal experience with bilateral DIEP flap breast reconstruction and treatment for breast cancer, including chemotherapy and radiation. Claire is very active in the breast cancer community, particularly as a volunteer for Austin’s Breast Cancer Resource Center, as a member of the New York-based breast cancer organization Young Survival Coalition, and as a trained Young Advocate with Philadelphia-based Living Beyond Breast Cancer. As our patient care coordinator, Claire enjoys connecting Dr. Fisher’s breast cancer patients with free resources in the community, from financial and insurance assistance to support groups and help with every-day tasks such as grocery shopping, house cleaning, and travel to doctor’s appointments. She is a staunch believer that no one should face breast cancer alone. In her role as communications director, Claire leads the practice’s community outreach efforts and manages our website and social media presence. She has a B.A. in English from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Southern California.
When she’s not at the office, Claire spends her time teaching and performing flamenco dance, which she has done for over 22 years, and writing about the arts for publications including the Austin American-Statesman and Arts+Culture Texas. Claire is also a fluent Spanish speaker.
Julie, Aesthetic and Clinical Practice Manager
Julie is a recent breast cancer survivor and former patient of Dr. Fisher’s. Her personal experience through this process has set the stage for her to participate as a volunteer for the Breast Cancer Resource Center’s AsSisters program, as well as being involved in several of BCRC’s fundraising events. Julie has a B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Texas and an M.S. in Allied Health Resources from Texas State University. Working with Dr. Fisher and the patients who come through the office has brought Julie full circle back to her roots and love of the healthcare world.
Outside of the office, Julie is busy with her husband and two active kids, as well as playing tennis in leagues around the city. Her favorite tagline is, “Choose to be amazing!”
