Facial Fat Grafting in Austin, TX
Fat grafting is a non-surgical technique that helps restore volume to the face that’s been lost due to age. Fat grafting uses your own natural fat, typically harvested from the abdomen or thighs, to replace volume deficits in the face, breast, buttocks and other areas.
Fat grafting can be an extremely effective facial rejuvenation tool to restore youthful contour to the cheeks, under the eye or along the jawline, or used in conjunction with other cosmetic surgery procedures.
During your fat grafting procedure, Dr. Fisher removes a very small amount of fat from either your outer thigh or abdomen. The fat is then purified and artistically transferred into the areas of the face that need added volume. In her practice, Dr. Fisher uses gentle fat harvest and purification methods, and transfers the fat using a microdroplet technique, which provides the grafted fat with increased blood supply, optimizing graft survival. As a result, there is more precision and control of the final contour in the area where the fat is grafted.
As a research fellow at the McGowan Institute of Regenerative Medicine, Dr. Fisher spent a year studying tissue engineering and stem cell therapies and their role in soft tissue reconstructions in the face and body. Her primary laboratory work related to optimizing fat harvest and purification techniques so that there would be a consistently high rate of tissue and stem cell survival post-transfer. Some clinical scientists believe that there is a stem cell response in the treated area that vastly improves both skin texture and tone. This is clinically useful in areas with a history of radiation injury, such as after cancer treatment.
