Dr. Ehanire’s Artistic Heritage

Dr. Ehanire's appreciation for the human form and three-dimensional art began in her home country of Nigeria, where her family belongs to a centuries-old artisanal guild of bronze casters. They created the renowned Benin Bronzes of the Benin Kingdom in southern Nigeria, now found in museums all over the world.

Dr. Ehanire attributes her naturally artistic eye to this heritage, as these bronze figures, busts, and masks were an everyday influence on her identity and upbringing. Dr. Ehanire’s plastic surgery practice allows her to draw connections between her family’s craft and her creation of natural-looking results that restore the form and function of the breast and body.

Education and Training

Dr. Ehanire fell in love with the “magic” of plastic surgery during her pre-medical clinical experience while at Johns Hopkins University when she saw how the body can be reshaped to repair soft tissue defects and improve quality of life. She completed her medical degree at Duke University School of Medicine, during which time she performed research on cell signaling in normal and abnormal scar formation to gain specialized knowledge of wound healing.

After receiving her medical degree, Dr. Ehanire entered the University of Florida’s rigorous six-year integrated plastic surgery program. The breadth of her training included head-to-toe complex microsurgical reconstruction as well as face and body aesthetic surgery. Since then, her passion for the care of breast cancer patients has led to her expertise in the full range of breast reconstruction options, including implant-based and DIEP flap (living tissue) reconstruction.

Dr. Ehanire feels privileged to be able to help women navigate the journey to feeling whole again after undergoing cancer treatment or experiencing major life changes that affect the body shape, such as pregnancy and weight loss. She is committed to providing her patients the care they need to begin healing, both physically and holistically.
